- The Canine Health Information Center (CHIC)
- This is an open health database that has been established by the AKC Canine Health Foundation and the OFA. Dogs achieve a CHIC certification by completing certain health-checks. CHIC is about being health conscious, not about being faultless. The CHIC data base allows owners, breeders, and prospective buyers to search online for dogs that have been tested. If a dog completes the recommended test panel (usually three tests) it receives a CHIC number regardless of whether it passes all of the tests. This is an important feature of CHIC because CHIC is about being health conscious it is not about health perfection.
