History

1929 AKC developed a children's program

Purpose	1. Introduce new generation to the sport 2. Opportunity to measure skills against their peers
1931	1st Children's Handling Class - Westbury Kennel Assoc. Show Judging based on how well dog presented
1951	AKC changed name to Junior Showmanship
1971	AKC recognized Junior ages & classes - 9 to 18 years of age
